Kingdom through Covenant: The Reviews

October 1, 2012

I’m finally back after a busy few weeks into the new Bible College semester! I have many more posts planned so expect more to come.

As I mentioned in a previous post, The Gospel Coalition has asked Doug Moo, Darrell Bock, and Mike Horton to review Kingdom through Covenant (a book I currently don’t have the time to read but fills up a nice chunk of my bookshelf).

For those unaware of the book, the authors attempt to present nothing less than a middle-way between Dispensationalism and Covenant Theology. They call this position Progressive Covenantalism, though it also could be associated with New Covenant Theology (a title they’ve avoided because of it’s broadness).

All three reviews and a response from the authors are now up. The links are below:

  • Michael Horton (Representing a Covenant Theology viewpoint)
  • Darrell Bock (Representing a Dispensational viewpoint)
  • Douglas Moo (Representing a view probably closest to that of the authors)
  • Author’s response (The authors: Peter Gentry and Stephen Wellum then had a chance to respond)

For any who are interested in the book’s contents and how those from different theological schools would respond to its claims, these reviews would be a great place to start.

I’m very grateful to the Gospel Coalition for hosting these reviews and encouraging thoughtful debate.
